My Life

My photo
What a life I have lived since setting off into the sunset in August of 2008, with my husband, Dave, on our 46 foot Hunter Sailboat. We sailed to the Mainland side of Mexico; Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and many small anchorages in between. We saw unbelievable sea life and scenery. Our adventures took us to the Sea of Cortez for hurricane season in 2009 anchored off the fishing village of Bahia de los Angeles, in Baja California. We fell in love with the village and it's people and got to know a few of the Americans that enjoy living there in the winter. We knew we had found our paradise and looked for a place to live. We found a small house on the sandy beach at the south end of the bay and made it a permanent home. We ended our cruising life to become CLODs and eventually sold Wave Sweeper in May of 2016. Because of my back problems we were unable to make long passages so our cruising had come to an end. Now Wave Sweeper is in good hands with the new owners and they love her. We are living our life and dream as we want and the adventures will only get better.

Renewed Life

Things are blooming in the desert and my allergies are sky rocketing!!! Wait until I get to Washington State with all those trees and grasses blooming!!! Yikes!!!! No worries! I'll survive! Ha!

This is a start of a busy month and an exciting one for us. We are so looking forward to our new home---our travel trailer!! Our home for summer in Washington. It will winter there while we are in Mexico.

Our dentist now drives from Guerrero Negro to Bahia every weekend to allow those in town to get their teeth fixed; cleaned or whatever, so they don't have to drive the 2-1/2 hours to Guerrero Negro. We took advantage of that and had our teeth cleaned on the 6th. It is so convenient now and nice to have a dentist in town even if it is on the weekends. Better than not having one.

We were invited to one of my good friends 75th Birthday party in Rincon on the 7th. Her husband organized it all and even though it was a surprise party, Rainy figured out what was going on but let Dennis, her husband, plan it all. It was a fun party with a corn hole game, lots of food which was catered by a wonderful Mexican friend and restaurant owner here in town. There was live music and Dennis kept the margaritas flowing!!! Then there was tequila for those who wanted to partake. I stuck with a glass of margarita and then wine for the rest of the evening. Even though the wind was blowing it was fun to play corn hole with my hubby!!! I think the wind may have helped me!!!! Teehee! It turned out that we WON the championship game!!!! Dave is much better than I am but I got to practice for this summer when my eldest son and his wife get it out for camping and other activities.

There was a yard sale close to town which we attended, but we didn't buy anything. It is always fun to look but there wasn't anything that said buy me!!!

Our Italian friends that live in Rincon invited us to their dinner party. They both are great cooks. Paolo cooks main meals and Angela bakes!!! We had a great time as there were many of our friends there too.

The Arts and Craft show was a successful one, at least for me. I made a little over $100. We had people come in almost everyday. It was fun. The only bad part was since we are leaving so early for Washington, I had to leave 2 days prior to the shows end.

I have packed my craft items for the show and decorations. Looking forward to selling some of my stuff. Then what is left over from the show, that isn't marked, Bahia de los Angeles, BC, Mx, I will take to Washington and try to sell there. It seemed strange to pack up and have everyone else still have their tables up. I didn't attend the luncheon on the last day as I had a bunch of stuff to do and pack as we are leaving the day after the show closes. I am excited about traveling north and it is strange to be leaving Bahia in May. The weather is so beautiful right now. But the trailer awaits.

The Arts and Craft Show was open on Easter but I chose not to work along with some of the other artists just to attend the party. There were 2 American artists that volunteered to work and cover our tables. The Mexican ladies were there as well.

There was a Easter Party in Rincon on Easter. It was a pot luck luncheon. For this party we decorate hats, both men and women, and at the party there is an Easter Hat parade. There are judges and prizes for the winners. So as people arrived they showed off their hats. Before eating we had the parade and it must have been difficult for the judges as there were a lot of creative hats. Here are my two friends and I modeling our hats.

After that was over and prizes were awarded, we ate. Then it was time for the Easter egg hunt. Plastic eggs filled with candy and some pesos in the sparkling eggs were hidden all over the Rincon park. There were 5 groups and each group was assigned a color and if you came upon a sparkle one you could grab it. Our group was green and we found 30 of them. That was the amount each group had. We poured our candy in a bag and decided to give it to our gate guard, Tito and his wife Brenda. After the egg hunt you could stick around and play Jenga, corn hole, or horse shoes. We stayed for a while after and participated in Jenga and then we packed up and left for home. It was a fun party and it is nice to get together and see some of the Rincon people we don't normally see on a regular basis. I will be at the arts and craft show tomorrow and tear down close to closing. We found out there was no one that showed up at the show yesterday, Easter. Not surprised. I mentioned they should close but was out voted.

We left for Washington early on the 25th and spent the night in Ensenada. Then in the morning we will cross the border. We had a quiet night at the Best Western down town Ensenada. We walked to our favorite Italian place not far from the hotel and had pizza and beer. Yum!!! Then it was back to our room to chill.

We are heading for the border and the traffic isn't bad. There is construction going on in Tecate which we had to wait 25 minutes, but that wasn't bad. Our usual stop before crossing into the U.S..

When we got to the border we didn't have to wait long and into the USA we went. Easy and uneventful.  Now we are on our way to see our friends Creela and Phil. They had planned to be in Bahia today, but one of their rentals got trashed so they ended up delaying their Bahia trip for a while. It was great to see them and we got all caught up. We leave their house tomorrow and head to another friends house. We know these people from Bahia too. Small world.

Headed out from Phil and Creelas late morning and got to Sandy and Tahmas house early afternoon. We had lunch there and then got in the pool and hot tub and had a great time. We love these people as they live life like we do. Always an adventure. We stayed the night and had a wonderful dinner of Lasagna and salad and of course wine. We stayed the night and plan on leaving right after coffee.

Sandy gave us some strawberries to munch on our way and we thanked them for their hospitality and great time. We will see them hopefully down in Bahia in the fall.

We drove until Dave didn't want to anymore which was Williams in California. We stayed at a Ramada Inn. The weather has been beautiful but a little on the cold side. We packed jeans and warm shirts so we are good. Resting up for tomorrows travel.

We stopped in Creswell Oregon for the night. Things went well until Dave went to check out. He told the gal that he wanted to pay cash in the morning so they put it on our debit card to hold it until the morning. Well it got messed up and we ended up getting charged on the debit about 3 times. We had to call the credit union and also the hotel, which was a pain in the butt as no managers were around to take our call. Anyway---long story short we got it cleared up. Nothing on our debit account now and Dave paid in cash. Onto Bremerton tomorrow!!! Yeah!!! Weather still wonderful and cool. No worries.
